RIFF honors Iranian composer Majid Entezami with Rasoul's Sign

The 16th RIFF honors Iranian composer Majid Entezami with Rasoul's Sign.

The 16th Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF) has paid tribute to Iranian music composer Majid Entezami with Rasoul's Sign.

The Rasoul’s Sign was presented to maestro Entezami, who has composed music scores for more than 80 movies, most of which themed on the Sacred Defense.

The veteran and globally-acclaimed Iranian music composer Loris Tjeknavorian congratulated Entezami for receiving the Rasoul’s Sign in a video message screened during the closing ceremony of the gala.

Tjeknavorian said, “You as a talented composer have properly served the country’s music and the Sacred Defense cinema,” adding, “You are a wonderful artist and I am proud of you.”

The award has been launched in memory of Rasoul Mollaqolipour in order to encourage cineastes to bring innovations to the films on the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense [Iraq-Iran war].

Born in 1955, the late film director, producer and screen writer Mollaqolipour made several movies, which mostly deal with the eight-year Iraqi-imposed war and its aftermath. He passed away in 2007 after a heart attack.

Coinciding with the Sacred Defense Week and covering the Health Defenders and Festival of Festivals sections, the first part of the RIFF was held on September 21-27.

The next part, to be held on November 21-27, coinciding with “Basij” week, will include Main Competition section, Resistance Prominent Martyr - special section, Best Film Competition in Absolute Sense section, and Narrations of Pen - Scriptwriting Competition section.

The RIFF, one of the most prestigious international film festivals in Iran, is dedicated to productions on wars and the repercussions of armed conflicts in the world.

It also puts a spotlight on the resistance of the Palestinian people against the Zionist regime, Daesh and its terrorist attacks in the region, as well as the world’s tyrants and their backing of Daesh.
